SHINE IT ON ME
BY: JIMMY WEBB
YOU'RE STILL THE BEST PERSON I EVER KNEW
THERE WERE A THOUSAND LITTLE THINGS THAT I WAS ALWAYS
JUST ABOUT TO SAY TO YOU
BUT NOW THAT TIME,
IT GROWS SHORTER FOR THE SPEECHES
JUST LET ME LEAVE YOU WITH A LINE
IT MIGHT HELP YOU PASS THE TIME SOMETIMES
YOU MIGHT AS WELL SMILE
AIN'T NO TEARS GONNA DROWN THE RAIN
KEEPS ON FALLIN'
YOU MIGHT AS WELL SMILE
AIN'T NO PAIN GONNA CHANGE WHAT STILL REMAINS
YOU MIGHT AS WELL REGAIN, BABE
YOUR LOST SERENITY, SERENITY
THEN LET IT SHINE ON ME
I REMEMBER TIMES WHEN YOU HELD ME
YOU'D FREEZE MY SPINE
WE WERE LOOKIN' IN THE MIRROR AT THE TIME
I GOT CONFUSED AND I THOUGHT YOUR EYES WERE MINE
BUT NOW THAT TIME
IT GROWS SHORTER FOR THE SECRETS
JUST LET ME LEAVE YOU WITH SOME TRUTH
IT MIGHT HELP YOU HOLD ON TO YOUR YOUTH, SOMETIMES
YOU MIGHT AS WELL SMILE
AIN'T NO TEARS GONNA DROWN THE RAIN
KEEPS ON FALLIN'
YOU MIGHT AS WELL SMILE
AIN'T NO PAIN GONNA CHANGE WHAT STILL REMAINS
YOU MIGHT AS WELL MAINTAIN, BABE
PROTECT YOUR SANITY, YOUR SANITY
THEN LET IT SHINE ON ME
SHINE IT ON ME
SHINE IT ON ME
SHINE IT ON ME

I JUST GOT UP THIS MORNING AND LOOKED IN AN OLD SONG BOOK OF JIMMY WEBB. IF YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER, HE WROTE "MacARTHUR PARK" A POPULAR SONG IN THE 70'S SUNG BY RICHARD HARRIS THE ACTOR.
I AM DRAWN TO THE LYRICS OF THE 60'S AND 70'S. I ENJOY READING THE WORDS TO JACKSON BROWNE'S SONGS AS WELL. MAYBE I WILL POST SOME OF THEM IN ANOTHER SESSION.
MAY THE LIGHT OF THE NORTH STAR SHINE ON YOU AND IN YOU THIS SEASON OF
CHRISTMAS.
BLESSINGS TO YOU,
NANCY G "FIREFLY"

TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES, IT RESTS WITHIN THIS VINE"
